Portret przedstawia Marię ze Spargnapanich Maurizio, z pochodzenia Włoszkę, żonę krakowskiego cukiernika Parysa Maurizio, właściciela słynnej cukierni w Rynku Głównym gdzie spotykała się miejska socjeta. W domu Mauriziów, którzy ulegli polonizacji i pielęgnowali nastroje patriotyczne ukrywali się powstańcy w 1863 roku.

Obraz stanowi pendant do portretu męża. Kobieta siedzi w fotelu, zwrócona w 3/4 w prawo, ubrana w czarną, taftową suknię, wykończoną koronkowymi obszyciami przy kołnierzyku i mankietach. Portretowana trzyma w prawej dłoni książeczkę. Na nadgarstku bransoletka zapięta złotą klamrą.
