Text Appearing Before Image:
Height, 32 inches; Length, 39% inches. A moon, hidden on the left, illuminates the pale blue vapory sky, which ispricked with bright stars and streaked with a scarf of white cloud. Themoonlight is reflected on the right-hand side of the farmyard, where itmakes a gleaming patch on a barn wall and glints upon the spiky foliageof a bush which overhangs a well. The latter, on the immediate rightof the foreground, has two piers, supporting a beam and wheel, from whicha double rope hangs down over the circular stone well-head. The yard isbounded at the back by another wall, where a rude gate appears, near whichare resting a ladder and two poles. The corner on the right is occupied bybushes and a pig-stye, above which, on the farther side of the wall, appearthe brown roof and gabled windows of a cottage. Signed and dated at the lower left, J. C. Cazin, 1882.

A full moon, hanging low, tinges with faint yellow the gray of the skyand the horizontal streaks of cloud, and lays a pathway of light over the sea.The latter, pale olive-green, luminous with silver and cream, approaches insmooth, low heaves, which break on the flat sand into long, sliding curlsof gleaming water. Signed and dated at the lower right, William T. Richards, 1886. 0 V No. 45JOHANN SIMON HENDRIK KEVER DUTCH (1857- ) THE SEWING CLASS Height, 30/^ inches; length, 42^ inches. A sewing teacher is conducting her class in the open air, the whole partybeing seated in front of a dull, red-brick cottage with buff-drab thatch.The woman, dressed in a salmon-pink waist and bluish-drab skirt, is on theleft of the group, with her back turned partly toward us, as she bends overher needlework. At her left is the solitary figure of a little girl, busilyknitting a black stocking.
