Description
English: Henner began his career as a realist painter but adopted a more idealized style, specializing in images of nymphs and naiads as well as religious subjects and portraits. On this sheet, his sketches include the heads of a helmeted male figure, a thin young woman who served him regularly as a model, and an elderly woman who resembles his mother.
