Description
English: Jes Jessen was a house painter in Åbenrå, and also did ship portraits and other portraits. This oil painting of the three-masted galiot Christian Gottlieb of Åbenrå measures 56.5 x 73.5 cm. The original is at Landesmuseum, Schloss Gottorf. In 1797 Jessen took as his apprentice the young C.W. Eckersberg. Source: Hanne Poulsen, Danske Skibsportrætmalere, page 56 & 115.
