Joseph Lokerman (Rotterdam, March 4, 1901 - Neuengamme, February 11, 1945) was a Dutch resistance fighter in Maastricht

Summary edit

Description
English: His work as a machinist enabled Lokerman to take Engelandvaarders (people who wanted to go to England in odere to join the allied forces) and Jewish refugees with him to Belgium, where Belgian colleagues helped them. In November 1943 he was appointed district leader Maastricht of the National Organization for Help to People in Hiding (LO). He worked under the pseudonyms Thijs and Leenders. Various resistance groups were active in Maastricht, usually composed on the basis of religious or political color. They partly did not cooperate very well. Sometimes because of chaotic communication, such as the OD. Lokerman made an effort to make the different groups work together better. Maastricht also lacked a local Knock team. In the spring of 1944, Lokerman was still setting up a KP.
