The words inscribed on the memorial globe are the names of Aspinall's favourite animals from his collection, notably those of his favourite gorillas. The memorial itself was crafted in South Africa by Zulu descendants, as Aspinall has been the only 'white' man to be formally honoured as a Zulu and given a Zulu name.
