Description
English: Plaque commemorating the 1873 establishment of the Deas Island Cannery on Deas Island in Delta, British Columbia Canada. "In 1873 a salmon cannery was established on this site by a free black tinsmith named John Sullivan Deas. Adjacent to one of the best salmon runs, his cannery briefly was the leading producer on the Fraser River. (Delta Heritage Site, Greater Vancouver Regional District Parks 1982)"
