JOHN P. McGOORTY is judge of the circuit court of Cook County, having been elected in November, 1911. He was born in Ashtabula County, Ohio, in 1866. He removed with his parents four years later to Berlin. Wis., where he spent his boyhood. He was admitted to the bar in 1892, and in his Chicago practice was a member of the firm of McGoorty & Pollock. He is a democrat, was elected to the Illinois legislature in 1896, re-elected in 1898, returned to the legislature in 1904, and re-elected in 1906.
