Description |
English: Typed document, black text on white paper. War Department Gettysburg National Park Commission Gettysburg, PA. March 1 1912 Mr. W. B. Van Amringe Dear Sir: We return to your address, approved by authority, the two sets of Blue Prints, transmitted to us. Will you please retain one set for your guidance, and the second forward to the Sculptor or Chairman of the Virginia Commission, preferably the latter, through the Sculptor, if you please. We do not possess Colonel Smith’s address, and do not seem to be able to get in touch with him. This approval carries with it only the construction of the Pedestal and foundations as shown by the Blue Prints, and does not authorize any Inscriptions, as stated heretofore. Please acknowledge receipt. Yours truly John P. Nicholson Chairman
