Description

Jorma singing and playing with characteristic intensity. The man is good at this! The guitar is his ES-335 that had a basically green psychedelic paint job, black around the upper bouts and cutaways, as you can see here. My recollection is that it had a an oversize knob (like a door knob) on the front- master volume? Big rotary switch? I'll see if I have a different picture that shows it more clearly.

This would be after Jorma and Jack Casady both got very short haircuts. It was said, at the time, that they had taken up speed skating on vacation and the tight hair reduced drag. I have no idea if this is true or not. I saw Hot Tuna 3 times between the last Jefferson Airplane show in 1972 and, uh, 1975, lets say. I have the sense that this was later rather than earlier, because I was getting better at framing and exposing my photographs (!)

A scan of a very old proof sheet, so the quality is frankly bad. So much dust/grain! So I took a artistic license and just fixed the disfiguring blobs (copy and stamp) within the illuminated part, leaving the random edge-of-the-Milky-Way noise everywhere else. Its so bad its even affecting that sprocket holes, which had no film in the way at all. So this is making a virtue of a necessity. The sprockets and frame numbers are legit, not edited in after.
