English: The photo shows a mural outside Coombes Croft library. It's above a raised flowerbed which is part of the library forecourt. The mural was painted by professional artist Cath Rive on the flank wall of No. 731 High Road. It represents national flowers from many of Tottenham's diverse communities.

   In October 2007, David Lammy, our Member of Parliament came to a ceremony to mark completion of the mural. Ever since, Haringey has failed to maintain the raised flowerbed properly.    Though eventually they do cut back the weeds, these pesky plants grow back. Who'd have thought it?    And, as you can also see, they've let a creeper grow from the flowerbed onto the roof the building next door. It gets steadily bigger.    I don't expect perfection. Sometimes there are good reasons why things don't get done. Reasons like budget cuts; staff shortages and sickness. Or work systems which miss routine tasks. But I favour the aim of learning from failure. Sometimes described as "Failing forward".

   It should be obvious from this and older photos of the mural that little or nothing is being learned.
