Bahasa Indonesia: Sarung merupakan sepotong kain lebar yang dijahit pada kedua ujungnya sehingga berbentuk seperti pipa/tabung. Ini adalah arti dasar dari sarung yang berlaku di Indonesia atau tempat-tempat sekawasan. Dalam pengertian busana internasional, sarung (sarong) berarti sepotong kain lebar yang pemakaiannya dibebatkan pada pinggang untuk menutup bagian bawah tubuh (pinggang ke bawah).
Kain sarung dibuat dari bermacam-macam bahan: katun, poliester, atau sutera. Penggunaan sarung sangat luas, untuk santai di rumah hingga pada penggunaan resmi seperti ibadah atau upacara perkawinan. Pada umumnya penggunaan kain sarung pada acara resmi terkait sebagai pelengkap baju daerah tertentu. |
