| Description |
English: The trail was now leading us into the depths of the Kali Gandaki Gorge. The Kali Gandaki gorge has been used as a trade route between India and Tibet for centuries. In front of us, as far as the eyes could see, stretched a large canyon.The Kali Gandaki was now just a mere creek winding between ocher cliffs. As tectonic activity forced the mountains higher, the river cut down through the uplift. This region is known for shaligram fossils, revered as one of five non-living forms of Lord Vishnu. We found a few along the way. |
