Description

A Kaman K-1200 "K-MAX" helicopter on the flightdeck of the "Slice Boat" (Prototype) at Coast Guard Island in Oakland, California (USA), during its participation in "Fleet Battle Experiment Echo" and exercise "Urban Warrior '99" on 19 March 1999. The U.S. Coast Guard high endurance cutter, USCGC Sherman (WHEC-720) is visible in the background.

The Kaman "K-MAX" was tested for resupplying ships at sea. Named "Broad-area Unmanned Responsive Resupply Operations (BURRO)" it was used in conjunction with the Slice Multi-Task Boat (only flight deck is seen) for providing over the horizon sea-based logistics.
