Summary

edit
Description
English: A remarkable portrait, probably taken by the photographer Fred Bremner many of whose images of Kashmir were published by Clifton and Co., one of the earliest all-India postcard publishers. Even though the image's origin is photographic, note how it becomes more like a drawing around the edges, an effect possibly added by the printer with a soft screen. Even the tree behind the woman almost disappears as they eye is drawn to her face and jewelry.
