Nederlands: Kasteel van Chambord, Loir-et-Cher, Centre. Een van de kastelen van de Loire en toonbeeld van Franse renaissancearchitectuur (hoogrenaissance), XVIe eeuw.
In opdracht van koning Frans I van Frankrijk startten de werken in 1519 met het afbreken van de bestaande burcht evenals van de dorpskerk. Frans I die opgroeide in de streek en er graag jaagde beoogde een jacht- en lustslot - en een uitstalraam. Zijn opzet groeide uit tot een van de fraaiste kastelen in de Loire-streek - en tot het grootste. Maar met zijn 440 kamers kende het slechts korte periodes een permanente bewoning. Français : Château de Chambord, Loir-et-Cher, Centre, France. Un des châteaux de la Loire et un exemple de l'architecture Renaissance Française, XVIe siècle.
En 1519, sur consigne du roi François Ier c'est le début des travaux - sur l'emplacement d' un ancien château fort qui se voit rasé, ainsi que l'église du village. Le roi, grandi dans la région et ou il aimait chasser, ambitionne un château de chasse et palais d'éte de même qu'un étalage reflètant le pouvoir en le goût pour les arts du roi. Ainsi le visiteur d'aujourd'hui découvre un des plus beaux châteaux de la Loire - et le plus grand. Mais avec ses 440 chambres le château a connu une habitation permanente que très restreinte.
