| Description |
English: Kodavas are linguistic minorities found in a small district called Kodagu situated in Karnataka state of India.
Kathiaat ( can be translated as sword dance ) is one of the famous folk dance of Kodava men. This is performed usually in village festivals and during festivities associated with their harvest festival Puttari. In this Kodava men dressed in their traditional attire dances holding sword (locally called as Odikathi) and another knife ( locally called as peechekathi) Usually Kodava uses Kodava Valaga or Pare ( native system of music) for the rhythm
