Description
English: Silesian University of Technology in Katowice (Poland).
Polski: Modernistyczny gmach Politechniki Śląskiej w Katowicach. Oddany do użytku w marcu 1931 r. i przekazany Śląskim Technicznym Zakładom Naukowym, dla których wybudowano ten obiekt. Po wybudowaniu był drugą co do wielkości szkołą w Europie. W czasach międzywojennych swą siedzibę miały w nim również: Państwowa Szkoła Górnicza, Śląski Instytut Rzemieślniczo-Zawodowy, Żeńska Szkoła Zawodowa Towarzystwa Polek oraz Stacja Badań Chemicznych. Po II wojnie światowej tradycja Śląskich Technicznych Zakładów Naukowych była kontynuowana, jednakże w 1972 r. przeniesiono je do budynków przy ul. Sokolskiej, a gmach na rogu ul. Krasińskiego i Granicznej przekazano Politechnice Śląskiej.
