| Description | Not far from Miskolc approached along a long concrete wall, behind which was a fascinating array of railway sidings full of mysterious tank wagons. All around smoke and steam belched from chimneys, some of it bright red in colour, as here. A red star topped one of the columns. Our hotel, the POLYMER was across the road from the plant, and obviously put up visiting engineers. The fare was basic....the inevitable HAM UND EGGS for breakfast ...but made up by the wonderful views of chemistry in action. The overall smell was also edifying. The keyfobs of the hotel consisted of large lumps of POLYTHENE. For me, one of the high points. |
