| Description |
English: Kilnave chapel The ruined medieval chapel at Kilnave is full of history. In 1598 a brutal clan battle broke out between the Macdonalds of Islay and the Macleans of Mull who had been granted lands in Islay by James VI. About 400 Macleans invaded the island and almost all were killed in a battle near Bridgend. Some thirty Macleans took sanctuary in this church, but the Macdonalds set fire to the building and they were all burnt to death. |
