Description
English:

A bunch of pink, urn shaped flowers hang from a branch with dark green leaves.

Kinnickinnick (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) and Salal (Gaultheria shallon), both members of the Ericaceae family, have very similar urn-shaped, pinkish-white flowers and are common in Mount Rainier low-elevation forests. Kinnickinnick however is a low-creeping shrub, no more than 8 in (20 cm) high, while Salal shrubs can reach 4 feet (1.2 m) high. Salal flowers hang individually from one side of the stem and produce dark blue to black berries; Kinnickinnick flowers cluster together and have bright red berries.
