English: Kirchseeoner Maskeum - Original Schnadernschlenzer masks by Johann Reupold sen. (carved in 1982): "Rhino", "The Fox", "The Cat" and "The Old Man". The Kirchseeoner Perchtenlauf is a winter parade tradition in which a group of differently masked figures moves through the community of Kirchseeon and performs dances, songs and sayings. The Kirchseeoner Perchten represent lucky charms that ring in the new year and the new growing season. The custom has been registered in the Bavarian State Directory of Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2022. On March 13, 2024, the German UNESCO Commission decided to include the Kirchseeoner Perchtenlauf in the German register of intangible cultural heritage. |
