Deutsch: Das Kleine Schloss oder auch Gartenschloss wurde 1725 als fürstliches Gartenhaus errichtet. Im klassisch barocken Baustil mit schwingenden Formen und Liebe zum Detail bildet das Gebäude die Verbindung zwischen den barocken Schlossgärten und der Altstadt. Das Gebäude veränderte im Laufe der Jahrhunderte vom Fachwerkbau zum sandsteinernen Barockschlösschen sein Aussehen. Herzog Ernst August von Braunschweig und Lüneburg wohnte mit seiner Familie von 1914-1918 hier. Eines der prominentesten „Kinder der Stadt“ wurde 1917 im Kleinen Schloss geboren: die spätere griechische Königin Friederike von Hannover, Mutter der spanischen Königin Sofia und Großmutter des spanischen Königs Felipe VI. Wo einst Kaiser und Könige Hof hielten, wo rauschende Sommerfeste gefeiert wurden, da befindet sich auch heute noch ein ansprechender Veranstaltungssaal.
Das ehemalige Heimatmuseum musste 2010 weichen, um das Kleine Schloss durch eine aufwändige Sanierung in neuem Glanz erstrahlen zu lassen. Heute befinden sich im Erdgeschoss die moderne Touristinformation sowie das Projektbüro der Harzer Wandernadel. In dem großzügigen Raum laden verschiedene Sitzgruppen zum Verweilen ein. So können sich Gäste hier ausgiebig über die Urlaubs- und Ausflugsangebote in Blankenburg (Harz) und im Harz informieren. Der Veranstaltungssaal steht für Ausstellungen, Konzerte und als Standesamt zur Verfügung. |
