Description
English: Special Exhibitions and symposium ‘The Geumgwanchong Tomb and King Isaji’

In 2013, ninety-two years after the discovery of the Geumgwanchong Tomb, the Conservation Science Department of the National Museum of Korea Found four Chinese characters(尒斯智王), meaning ‘King Isaji’, incised with a sharp tool at the end of the scabbard of a large ring-pommel sword. The researchers of the department discovered more characters, including ‘I’ (尒) incised at the hilt and ‘Sip’ (十) at the opposite side og the scabbard to the ‘King Isaji’ inscription. They also found three characters, ‘Pal’ (八), ‘Sip’ (十) and ‘I’ (尒), incised on another sword unearthed from the Geumgwanchong Tomb.
