Summary edit

Description
English: 20. Kshatriya (pp. 167-68). Author: Solvyns, A Collection of Two Hundred and Fifty Coloured Etchings (1799), Sec. I, No.6. "The K'huttry."

The complete Solvyns etchings were published about 200 years ago. They are in three editions. The two major ones have 250 etchings from the Calcutta edition; and 292 etchings from Les Hindoûs edition (etched in Paris after Solvyns return from India to Europe). In description above, the spelling used in Solvyns's description is preserved.

The Calcutta edition and Paris edition are mostly similar, except in Solvyns Paris edition, produced later in Europe, the people are etched much darker than etchings made by Solvyns when he was in India. Some etchings are mirror image, and new matter is added in the background by Solvyns in his Paris edition.

The complete etchings collections include musical instruments, festivals, social events, people classified by different occupations, religion, class and a self portrait where Solvyns is with his servants.
