Summary edit

Description
English: The Kurdish State called Mosul shaded in red was a part of the Ottoman Empire in 1902 when this map was produced. After WW1, with the dissolution of the Ottoman empire, the British and French divided up this region between themselves based on resources, not ethnicities. The British took control of many of the oilfields by creating the state of Iraq where they joined the oil rich Kurdish State of Mosul to the regions south of it with Baghdad as the capital.
