Description

Bâtiments de l'ancien aéroport de Tempelhof construits au moment du IIIème Reich Flughafen Tempelhof

Le site a servi de piste pour les avions dès 1909. Le premier aéroport de Tempelhof date de 1923.

En 1939, l'architecte Ernst Sagebiel a conçu des bâtiments en forme de coquille autour de l'espace des pistes. Cette construction dans le style national-socialiste était à l'époque le bâtiment continu le plus grand du monde. Il faisait partie du projet Germania d'Albert Speer.

Après guerre, l'aéroport a été utilisé par les Alliés dès 1945, puis aménagé en aéroport civil en 1962.

Il a été fermé en octobre 2008 au moment où l'aéroport de Schönefeld a été opérationnel, Tempelhof a été transformé en parc de loisirs ouvert au public en mai 2010.
