Description LC-USZ62-47176: Russian Activities, WWI. Women’s regiment of Petrograd is made up of 1200 women between the ages of 18 and 40. They are all volunteer and come from all parts of Russia. The regiment was formed to shame the men who were deserting. In their first battle, they were badly cut up owning to poor leadership. From this battalion will be taken women to fill in the gaps Harris & Ewing Collection. Courtesy of the Library of Congress. (2016/11/18).
