Description

The Land Vegetation and Ice Sensor (LVIS) instrument, a high-altitude laser altimeter from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, was installed in the B200 aircraft for science flights over Greenland during the Arctic 2011 campaign of Operation IceBridge. Credit: NASA/Matt Hoffman

Operation IceBridge, now in its third year, makes annual campaigns in the Arctic and Antarctic where science flights monitor glaciers, ice sheets and sea ice.
