INTERNO DELLA CHIESA DI VALVISCIOLO fSEKMONETA» XV. Il Tempio è grandioso e solenne nella sua sempli-cità ed è volta a ponente. Il più volte citato autorefrancese così la imprende a descrivere: Ci) « La chiesa di Valvisciolo è di dimensioni modeste« di pianta e di architettura estremamente semplice.« Essa è costruita tutta in travertino ; la pietra da« taglio non è stata adoperata, che nei soli angoli ». La porta dingresso è ad arco di pietra- finamentelavorata ed ha larchitrave spezzato; ciò dicesi av-venisse nellatto della morte del Gran Maestro deiTemplari Fra Giacomo di Borgogna, avvenuta a Pa-rigi. Sullarchitrave trovasi una nicchia con un di-pinto di stile gotico. Vi è la Beata Vergine col Bam-bino, S. Sbefano e un altro santo forse San Pietro oS, Benedetto. (2) (1) Enlart, Op. cit., Cap.
