Français : Dans l'édition du dimanche de La Patrie, le carricaturiste J.A. Lemay décrivait l'actualité de la semaine. Sa chronique du 3 septembre 1939 traitait des difficultés financières de la ville de Montréal, de la politique constitutionnelle du premier ministre Maurice Duplessis qui refusait une centralisation des pouvoirs à Ottawa et de la montée en puissance de l'Allemagne qui menacait ses voisins.
