Français : La Pentecôte Heures d'Étienne Chevalier, enluminées par Jean Fouquet Musée Condé, Chantilly, R.-G. Ojeda, RMN / musée Condé, Chantilly Pour Jean Fouquet, le blanc a une forte signification de pureté et de purification. Ainsi, la Pentecôte est située dans un cénacle à l'italienne en camaïeu blanc, avec des pilastres antiques, des fenêtres rectangulaires et une abside à coquille. La voûte en berceau surbaissé, en bois, est d'une conception française. Un blanc particulièrement éclatant attire le regard vers le Saint-Esprit, la guimpe de la Vierge et le jeune apôtre, saint Jean, assis à droite.
