Description

La piste d'essai est le symbole du Lingotto depuis les années 1920, elle a été restaurée en 1993.

Les usines Fiat à Turin (le Lingotto) ont été construites dans les années 1910-1920 par l'architecte Giacomo Matté-Trucco (1869-1934), elles comprenaient une célèbre piste d'essai sur le toit de plus d'un kilomètre de long. Deux rampes au sud et au nord de l'usine permettaient aux voitures d'accéder à la piste.

La transformation de l'ensemble des bâtiments en centre commercial, bureaux, hôtels et centre des congrès a été confiée à l'architecte Renzo Piano. Il a également construit un héliport et un bâtiment (l'Ecrin) destiné à accueillir la pinacothèque donnée à la ville par la famille Agnelli.

Le bâtiment de la pinacothèque possède 6 étages pour une surface de 2.800 m2. Les oeuvres exposées sont du Canaletto, de Tiepolo, de Canova, de Manet, Modigliani, Renoir, Matisse, Balla, Severini, Picasso,..
