Description
Français : Pendant le Nouvel Empire (1550-1070 av. J.C.), la plupart des pharaons ont été enterrés à Thèbes au sein de la vallée des Rois dans des tombes creusées dans la roche (appelées syringes par les grecs). Le premier pharaon enterré dans la vallée est Thoutmosis I (le père d'Hatchepsout).

La vallée est dominée par une cime pointue, véritable pyramide naturelle (voir photo de droite prise au crépuscule).

La vallée comprend 62 tombes royales connues et des sépultures non terminées.
