Description

Le Palais Patriarcal de San Pietro di Castello

L'église San Pietro di Castello, construite au IXème siècle, a été la cathédrale de Venise jusqu'en 1807 (San Marco lui a succédé sur décision de Napoléon). Ce fut le siège de l'évêché de Venise puis du Patriarche dès 1451. Le Palais Patriarcal est mitoyen de l'église, il a été transformé en caserne par Napoléon, puis en appartements.

Sur la photo, on voit la cour intérieure de l'ancien Palais.

Le site est signalé dans l'ouvrage "Venise insolite et secrète" des éditions Jonglez.
