Description |
English: Act 1 scene 2 of the 3-act opéra-comique La Princesse de Carizme with a libretto in prose by Alain-René Lesage and Joseph de la Font [Lafont] (1686 – 20 March 1725) and music consisting of vaudevilles arranged by Louis de La Coste [Lacoste] (1675-1753), first performed at the Foire Saint-Laurent in July 1718 and repeated on 17 August. The influence of Italian commedia dell'arte on this French piece is revealed by the presence of Harlequin, identifiable by his characteristic motley costume. |
