Image location: Franklin Parker Preserve, Chatsworth, New Jersey, USA > A scattered group of several fruiting bodies growing in the middle of the blue-blaze trail in mixed woods (pitch pine and oak) of the Speedwell section of FPP. > Injured gills instantly oozed copious pinkish-brown latex; the latex eventually stained the gills brown upon drying. > Odor not entirely unpleasant, but sharp and rather acrid. > Keyed out well and matched the description and pix in the milkcap book. > The wording in the books suggests hemlock as the symbiont, but there surely no hemlock in the NJ Pine Barrens!
