Ladakh in 1981, PAMPOSH, Main Bazaar Road, Leh
"Pamposh is hardly a café at all. It is a shack, a rickety wooden shack, open on all three sides to the street. It has coffee so bad, so old, and so thin, you have to be a caffeine addict to get through it at all. I sit in Pamposh and look out at the old lama passing, or the woman sitting on the corner selling cabbages, or a young Kashmiri squatting outside his shop and singing."
