English: Lamp bearing the name of Sultan al-Malik an-Nasir ad-Din Muhammad ibn Qala'un (1294–1340). The neck bears the beginning of the verse of light, the 35th verse of the sura an-Nur (“Light”) of the Qur'an: “Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star”.
Français : Lampe portant le nom du sultan al-Malik an-Nasir ad-Din Muhammad ibn Qala'un (1294-1340). Sur le col est inscrit le début du verset de la lumière, le 35e verset de la sourate an-nūr (« La Lumière ») du Coran : « Allah est la Lumière des cieux et de la terre. Sa lumière est semblable à une niche où se trouve une lampe. La lampe est dans un (récipient de) cristal et celui-ci ressemble à un astre de grand éclat. » |
