English: Lamp post and houses on Beacon Hill I thought I'd upload this as you could be forgiven if this was taken in the 1970s/80s! The only giveaway that it was taken in 2008 is the modern UHF aerial on the chimney in the top right hand corner of the photo. Apart from that, however, everything still looks pretty much as it would've done 20/30 years ago! Notice how the concrete streetlighting column adds character and quintessential "Britishness" to the image - any modern installation would've spoilt this effect! Just a shame that the lantern and bracket aren't the original ones, but never mind! View taken looking east. |
