| Description |
Deutsch: Der Untere Turm ist das letzte Überbleibsel der Hechinger Stadtbefestigung. Erbaut wurde er 1579 unter Eitelfriedrich I. von Hohenzollern-Hechingen. Zitat an der Fassade: „Mich hat gebawt Graf Eyttelfritz Von Grundt bis oben an den Spitz. 1579“. Im Durchgang sind die Wappen von Hechingen und den Ortsteilen (Bechtholdsweiler, Beuren, Boll, Schlatt, Sickingen, Stein, Stetten, Weilheim) angebracht. Durch diesen Durchgang - Stadttor - musste bis 1862 der gesamte Verkehr in und aus der Unterstadt/Oberstadt. Hier wurde auch die „Turmstrafe“ vollzogen. 1935 nistete das letzte Storchenpaar auf der Turmspitze. Im oberen Teil gibt es heute noch eine Wohnung. |
