Deutsch: Der Gedenkstein wurde 1969 im Rahmen einer deutsch-amerikanischen Freundschaftswoche eingeweiht. Er erinnert an Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben und seine Zeit als Hofmarschall unter Fürst Joseph von Hohenzollern-Hechingen von 1764 bis 1776.
Steuben war einer der maßgeblichen Akteure im amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg indem er die Kontinentalarmee wieder reorganisierte. Die heute immer noch stattfindende Steuben-Parade in New York erinnert an den großen und wichtigen Preußen bzw. Kurzzeit-Hechinger. |
