Description
English: Lanhydrock House and garden.
  • Built 1620-42 for the Robartes family, Truro merchants and bankers.
  • Mostly burnt down in 1881, after which it was rebuilt. The house has at one time four wings enclosing a central courtyard, but the E wing was demolished in 1780. The long gallery in the N wing, which survived the fire, has a plaster ceiling c. 1650 depicting Old Testament scenes.
  • NT, open from April, but the garden from mid-February.
