Title
Late Post Medieval to Modern copper alloy and engraved glass object, possibly a pendant or pseudo seal matrix from a fob
Description
English: Late Post Medieval to Modern copper alloy and engraved glass object. Exact function uncertain but possibly a pendant or pseudo seal matrix from a fob. The domed glass is held in a copper alloy (brass) circular mount. There is a solder scar on the flat side of the mount, at approximately 12 o'clock, indicating it only ever had a single attachment point so it can't have been a seal matrix akin to WILT-56D514 but may have been attached as a pendant on a chain. The flat side of the clear transparent glass has been engraved in reverse in a high gothic style, with the initials JFS crested by a capricorn or possibly a goat. The domed side enables the decoration to be viewed clearly and the correct way around ,which is more suggestive of a decorative pendant than a functional seal matrix. Dates to between c1800 and c1940 AD, judging from the style of the engraving probably c1850 to c1910.

The thickness is 5mm, diameter is 20mm, and the weight 4.9g.
