Description	Créé en 1794, deux ans après le musée du Louvre, l'atelier de moulages du Louvre avait pour mission de fournir aux musées et aux écoles des beaux-arts de bonnes reproductions de sculptures antiques. Aujourd'hui, en permettant à chacun d'acquérir le moulage de telle ou telle oeuvre remarquable, son rôle s'inscrit plus largement dans la mission générale de diffusion culturelle de la Réunion des Musées Nationaux (RMN), - à laquelle l'atelier est rattaché depuis la création de celle-ci en 1895.
