English: Latvia 1914 cover. Russian 3+1 Kop. perf.11 and 7+1 Kop. perf.13 War Charity issues on cover tied by machine cancel RIGA 18.12.1914 to Glimminge, Sweden. Opened by Russian censor in Petrograd, backside purple oval marking. In 1905 the ' Krag Maskin Fabrik' of Oslo introduced a cancellation-machine. According to Marcilger June 19, 1908 is the first known date of the Riga machine cancel. 7 different types were used in Riga from 1908-1917, with differences in horizontal lines, stars and date marking, all used at different time frames. The shown cancel is type 5, (8 horizontal lines, 2 stars and points in the date)) and was used from 13 VIII 1913 to 29 V 1915 (or 16-8-1916). The bottom 8th line misses.
