Title
English: Launching of the steamer "Snoqualmie," August 1919
Description
English:

In August 1919, the hull of the 330-foot long vessel "Snoqualmie" slid into the waters of Elliott Bay, off Seattle. The steamer was the largest wooden ship ever launched until that time. Dignitaries from the Seattle shipping industry attended the ceremonies, as did members of the Snoqualmie tribe in whose honor the ship was named. This August 1919 photo shows the launching of the flag-decorated steamer "Snoqualmie" at the shipyard of the Puget Sound Bridge and Dredging Company. Workers and visitors watch as the huge hull splashes into the water.
