Description
The artist made two versions of this scene in 1885. The other is much larger and is at Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen. It has no. 45 in Christensen's list of paintings and the room is lit by a lamp. The present painting was not known by Christensen when he wrote his book in 1910, but when he wrote an update in 1922, it was in the addendum as no. 836. Here the room is lit by daylight.
