Français : Tel l'œil de Sauron, les châteaux des Vosges alsaciennes médiévaux avaient toujours pour objectifs de dominer totalement les vallées adjacentes. Un feu, un peu de poussières, du bruit, rien n'échappait aux vigiles de ces tours de garde suréquipées montées sur la montagne.
Peu de ces châteaux ont survécus au passage de Louis XIV directement ou indirectement (pendant la guerre de Trente Ans), celui du Haut-Koenigsbourg a eu la chance d'être dans les desseins d'un certain Guillaume II (ou Wilhelm II), empereur allemand, souhaitant rappeler aux Alsaciens les liens profonds qu'ils avaient avec eux de par ses ancêtres autrefois propriétaires du château (pour la faire courte).
