Description

De Mont Saint-Michel is een rotsachtig schiereilandje ongeveer 1 kilometer uit de kust bij Avranches (Normandië). Het is oorspronkelijk een getijdeneiland: het was over land bereikbaar bij eb, maar bij vloed was het omringd door water. Sinds enkele jaren loopt er een smalle verhoogde weg naar het eiland. Op het eiland staat een abdij, gebouwd tussen de elfde en zestiende eeuw.

Mont Saint-Michel (English: St Michael's Mount) is a rocky tidal island in Normandy, France. It is located approximately one kilometer off the country's north coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches.
